Summary

Introduced with the International Interests in Mobile Equipment (Cape Town Convention) Bill 2013, the bill amends the:

Air Services Act 1995
to: provide that statutory liens maintain priority over security interests registered in the International Registry, provided that the statutory line was recorded first;
Civil Aviation Act 1988
to allow functions to be conferred on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to enable CASA to record, remove and exercise an Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorisation; and
Personal Property Securities Act 2009
to provide that the Cape Town Convention will prevail over the Act to the extent that an inconsistency applies.
